Has anyone had any experience of this gearbox fitted to later Golf R/GTI MK7.5, VRS, Cupra etc getting to 60, 70, 80k

My car is at 38k and debating about getting this serviced at 40k, the VAG guidance is 80k on these which is different to most DSG boxes.

I have been quoted £272 by my a main dealer but that's oil only and VAG do not recommend the filter is changed and its a bit of pi to do.

Also if anyone knows of a specialist VAG garage in Exeter area that would be helpful.

Thanks!

I'm on my second DSG car, albeit likely a different model to yours and have always serviced on or before the due mileage but I can't understand why any mechanical assembly with oil and a filter would not have the filter replaced (or cleaned if reusable) with the oil and, especially why the manufacturer would not recommend it?

Decent Indy recommendation, 40k miles using genuine oil and a new filter. If you're planning to keep it for a while.

My dealer won't do the filter and VW don't show it as serviceable, they have never done one just the oil the fixed cost thing said it was 215 and this years its 272!

Most people seem to pay the dealer to do the oil at 40k as preventative but dealers aren't doing the filters as its not reccomended.

Anyone recommend and Specialist in Exeter area?

I also need the coolant changing and flushing as its gone slightly off colour and the dealer quoted me over £1046 to do that!

I booked my Ateca 190 TDI 4drive in to our local Seat garage for a gearbox oil change along with filter. I'd heard this was advisable at 40,000 miles, and my car was approaching 39,000. When I dropped the car off I was told that it was subject to a gearbox recall, and if it needed anything mechanical it would be done, but otherwise just a software update. I got a phone call mid afternoon to say the software update was all that was required and then told that gearbox oil wasn't due till 80,000 miles. For my peace of mind I told them to go ahead and change oil and filter. When I collected it I was told the filter doesn't get changed even at 80,000 miles and I told them that i found this strange.
I'm sure I'd never have heard of the recall if I hadn't booked the car in, and I have to rely on their word that oil was changed. The gearbox characteristics seem to have changed a bit as leaving it in drive seems almost like the sports mode prior to update. Sports mode seems a lot sharper than it used to be too. Downside is reduced mpg by 3mpg on my drive to our daughters - 58 miles with mix of dual carriageway, A roads and very hilly B roads. My wife hasn't noticed the difference though. I'm not really convinced with DSG longevity and have refrained from getting the car mapped. I usually keep cars for quite a few years, but perhaps not this one.
