A4 deals predicament
Discussion
Hi all
Wondering if anyone has any input. Was ready to pull trigger on new a4 avant 40tfsi sport coming in at ~£30k on a teacher discount site so about £10k off list and just under luxury car tax rate which I’m keen to stay under. Problem is the new model is due and you have no way of knowing what price they’ll be or what new specs they’ll have and will end up with a car you haven’t ordered with a price you’re potentially not willing to pay in 5 months. Seems crazy that dealers can’t match these prices as makes getting the relevant information extremely difficult and it’s so disconcerting wasting peoples time.

I'm guessing that's why the discount is so large off the current model.Wondering if anyone has any input. I doubt any individual dealer would give you anywhere near that off even if in stock currently ( ie not a factory order ) and certainly not off the new model -which btw I doubt the discount you've been offered on the existing model would be as good as anyway.
That’s the point but it seems a ridiculous situation to be in. Spoke to to broadspeed and they said they removed something 9 months ago which means there’s no guarantee of paying the price you agree at time of purchase. With the current delays imagine some people are getting a nice bill when they finally arrive if they’ve put the prices up? Doesn’t sound right to me. Assume they just hope people don’t realise at point of order?

I think its a bit different when its a new model though. If you order the old model and the price goes up and they pass on that to you then you usually get the option to cancel.
I'll try and find out what the expected new price will be on the new model but as I said I doubt at that stage you will get the same discount.
If you are happy enough with the existing model and can get that discount then is that simply a better option for you anyway ?
Thanks. It’s about 10% on top probably. AFAIK You can order the existing model, which is what I want, but you will get the new one (at the new cost minus any new discount) as theres no build slots for it. Problem is can only get that info from dealer not the discounter. Only way they’ll know is if you go ahead and order which is when they then pass onto dealer. Just a pain all around.

Yup I get that but I guess that's the downside of going to a discounter in the first place. It might be that a dealer also cannot order the " old " model if the build allocations are temporarily closed anyway.
Update. I’ve given my head a wobble and ordered it. Price is guaranteed it’s just to road tax that is susceptible if they increase the rrp of car although not sure how that’ll work as the model may no longer exist?? Potentially it’ll be gone after first year so may not have to worry about it. Thanks all.

Hope that all works out for you then. Apparently it’s not a new model as such , Audi are simply redoing how they order cars and amending the packs available along with a few random option changes.
Supposedly the new prices went online yesterday.

Nice one.Isn't excise licence worked out on the RRP of the car, rather than the price you paid? therefore, without any discounts? So if Audi lists the model as £42000 then regardless of the price you paid, it's susceptible to the over £40k higher tax bracket?
