Buying a used A6 2008 2.7 tdi

Hello all first post car newb learning as I go along, just after some advice, I’m considering buying a used Audi A6 2.7 tdi Le Mans 08 plate and was wondering if there’s anything specifically I should be looking out/asking the dealership it’s a CVT and has 92k miles the garage has good reviews so I’m not expecting to get shafted, just don’t want to rush into something without knowing what to expect & PX my golf which has been good to me.

CVTs don’t have a good rep in these. We have a 2006 2.7TDi FWD Manual Avant. The engines are good on these. Ours has done 275,000 miles.
Our owning experience (my wife owns it and I use it for shedding journeys) includes a few issues, many of which I think is down to bad luck, but kept with it:
Water ingress - water was draining into the chassis rails and coming through the floor - quiet rare but meant I ended up stripping out the interior to let the carpet with 2” foam dry out. Make sure water draining out of the bungs don’t go into the chassis rails.
Rear wash pipe can split and deposit water on your media unit. I caught mine just in time. Just make sure you have enough screen was to stop the hose splitting.
Back door window regulators have gone. I don’t use them so not an issue for me.
Rear parking sensors have stopped working - moisture has got to them. They might work in summer after a long spell. I just look where I’m reversing.
Turbo went at around 200,000 but this is not common. Cost £2k to fix.
Heating system did this thing where some vents would blow red hot even with the temp set to cold. This was a cheap fix, cleaning the plunger valves that were full of crud.
Check the front of the sills behind the front wheels which may start to rust. I had mine sorted 8 years ago and it’s only just coming back. It’s rust rather than rot though.
Blow by on one injector, due to a bad seal evident with a smell of diesel fumes coming through the vents.
This was all over 8.5 years and 135,000 miles of ownership. Although it’s well into shed territory it’s still a good motorway cruiser. Crashy suspension on back roads and the steering feels too light. We get 40-44mpg through daily use which is better than the claimed combined mpg, which is good. Just over 50mpg is achievable from long motorway journeys if you keep to the speed limit. The only thing about the manual as well is that first gear is too short, which makes you think twice when pulling into busy roundabouts.
Also avoid the SE spec as the seats have quite a flat base unless you lower the seat and there’s no lumbar adjustment. The clutch has a long throw to change gear but if you adjust your seat for that then your right leg feels like it’s angled too close to the gas pedal, so you need to find a decent balance.
We plan to hang onto ours hopefully for another year or two whilst the used car bubble sorts itself out. It’s made reaching 300k a target. Despite the “ character” features, it’s still good for what it does. Just don’t get the SE spec.

I’m getting it serviced it a month or two I’ll likely go for a manufacturer major service to be thorough hopefully that will pick up on any issues and provide some TLC for the CVT
I’m told it has a timing chain so I don’t have to worry about a belt snapping
I’ll definitely keep an eye on the water ingress that doesn’t sound fun nor does the fluid leaks I’ll have a good look on the weekend to make sure nothing is going to be causing me a headache all to soon
Thanks for the heads up regarding the turbo I’m hoping the timescale you’ve mentioned should give me a fair while of usage as I primarily got the car for family usage so I won’t be ragging it around harshly
The only thing I need to deal with sooner rather than later is 2 rear tyres which surprisingly enough has only come in at 95 per tyre.
