I have a Golf R Estate 7.5 and I'm considering whether to get a remap stage 1 equivalent and possible a DSG map at same time. Wondering what the current consensus is on best place for these (I'm South East area).

I'm not chasing headline figures but am thinking about a bit of extra in gear go and sharper throttle response. I would like to avoid excessive DSG farts/pops bangs as I'm feel too old for that stuff. Plan to keep the air filter standard. I have seen some places that offer the ability to switch between maps yourself and a valet mode which is appealing.

On the shortlist are:

Revo/Mountune/APR

Anyone with experiences of the above?

Might be worth considering RacingLine too.
I have a Stage 1 2018 Golf R with their OEM+ software (ECU and TCU tune) and have done 20,000 miles on it - makes for the perfect daily.

Thanks, will take a look. TBH I am in half minds about whether to bother at all as the car seems to run great now on decent fuel but good to know what's out there.

Have you done anything else to it bar the TCU and Map. I keep hearing about turbo elbows and airbox mods on other forums.

I have the Racingline R600 intake along with intake elbow and inlet hose. You get a fraction more intake/turbo noises - you can fit the muffler delete if you want more.
We are a Racingline dealer so maybe I'm biased but I can't really see a downside. Economy is still great when just using it in Drive but in Sport it really wakes up.

As you are a Racingline dealer quick question: On their site they talk about being able to return to "true stock" the map if you want to go back. I was just wondering how they do this and if it is the actual map that was on your car or a similar stock'ish map they reload? Or do both maps live on the ECU and Racingline toggle? I have seen some folks mention that with Revo, the return to stock is not what was actually on your car so I was curious what Racingline reloaded.

I'm not worried about TD1 flags, and stuff like that as car is owned, outside manufacturer warranty and any mods always get declared, more a case of not be able to go back to standard if I didn't like it or wanted to go back to stock as some poitn in future.

Back in 2014 my car was used by REVO to do the development on the MK3 Leon Cupra file, but I was a previous APR customer so after they used it, I switched from REVO Stage 1 to APR stage 1 and the car was slightly better!

In the end I ended up running APR Stage 2 at 420ps (at the crank) and the APR TCU file. Car was amazing.

I also live down the road from Racingline and know the guys down there.

I'd personally say either Racingline or APR.

My trusted VAG tuner also sells TVS Engineering TCU files now which are sworn by! I however have no experience of them, but really trust his opinion.
