Hi all,

Am a teacher and have found some seemingly decent deals on a4’s. Starting from just over 26k new for a saloon. Looks like the incoming version means they’re getting rid of remaining stock I’d assume. Looking at the avant as not much more and do a lot of holidays to Europe. Anyone any experience. Have a 520d SE that I bought new in 2013 that I’ve only ever spent money on tyres for and I love. New ulez means a new car was always coming for us and this looks like something I’d like under 30k limit. Not sure if I still need a diesel just like not having to go to petrol station as often. The 35 tdi with c&s pack is 30k with the tfsi being 28k. Most miles are a commute in reasonable traffic. I’d be looking at owning for 10+ years like the bmw and will just keep forever. Doing about 8000 a year. Appreciate any input. This will be on finance but assume we can pay off with better finance or cash within 14days like usual? Anything to include or ask about? Hopefully going to go and test drive two engines this week. Doesn’t look like the 40 versions are worth the extra. Not bothered about looks all that much. Trouble has Audi A3 etron and always seems fine to drive.

If used to 5 series space for touring, maybe worth looking at A6 Avant instead? Jaguar XF Soortbrake has a lot of boot space and lovely cars to drive, but their new diesels may have questionable reliability.

Ta. Used to have 3 touring which was fine for space and have roof box if needed for extras so whilst a6 or 5 touring is desirable the extra 10k isn’t. Will have a look at the jags but imagine they’re not getting near that price point.
