2012 Polo suspension creak
Discussion
My car (2012 Polo 1.2 tdi Bluemotion) has developed a suspension creak when going over speedbumps, no matter the speed I take them at.
Local Mechanic says its a problem he has encountered before & quoted £200 per corner to install new shock absorbers.
Has anyone done a DIY fix on this as I don't really want to shell out £400 to stop an annoying creak?

Check for a broken spring, we had this on my wife's 2014 Polo GT which gave similar symptoms. Modern springs are made of poor material and seem to be vulnerable to cracking.Local Mechanic says its a problem he has encountered before & quoted £200 per corner to install new shock absorbers.

Front lower control arm rear bushes possibly? Just changed them on my son's 2014 polo. Old ones were in poor state, drivers side literally falling apart. I bought the bushes for £13 and fitted myself. A week later it broke drivers side front spring, so I've that and a new top mount to change this weekend. Don't like paying garages.

Both me & the mechanic have taken the wheels off to inspect and neither of us could see anything. I'm starting to think its the top mounts as they haven't been inspected and other sources are suggesting them. Will update everyone with my findings. LJF_97 said:
