The autohold suddenly decided it wasn't working. The brakes still work as normal so it is safe to drive. I live near enough to M25/J13 and had a search for somewhere to get it diagnosed and fixed but none of them, according to their write-up , seemed suitable.
Can anyone suggest or have experience of somewhere to get it fixed.

Bob.

Are you sure its not just turned off?

Its essentially just a piece of software telling the rear brakes to apply until you either turn off the car(and parking brake applies) or it detects the car setting off and releases.

There have been software updates to the system over the years so could be that yours needs updating. Id imagine a good VW indy could do it if they have access to the software, otherwise its a dealer jobby.

While I was driving a warning suddenly popped up on the screen saying that AutoStop had just died. I'm certain it wont switch on again as I've tried playing with the switch while stopped and moving.

Did the warning come up on the touch screen? IIRC you can tap on the error for extra information which may help diagnosis.

I'm not saying it is but my mates Golf had similar issues which were solved with a new battery.

Is the software up to date as there was one for this (not a recall)

Phone VW if not sure!

I forgot to note that after the initial warning there are no warning lights lit to indicate any problem.

According to the manual all four wheels are braked by the autohold.

After some further searching there doesn't seem to be a suitable VW garage anywhere near.

Does the handbrake work ? I thought vw had got away from rubbish rear calipers but we had one last week fail it’s mot as the osr was seized solid. Might be worth scanning it and seeing what fault codes come up

No VW group indie specialist nearby?

Does the handbrake still work?

Neither the electric brake nor the foot brake show any signs of having a problem. Both work as expected.

CorradoTDI: Thanks for the reference; I'll follow it up. I had come across that garage some years ago for a different problem so I've no idea why it didn't show up this time. Probably my search keywords were inadequate.

No problem, I would still check the software is up to date with VW first if it's not been dealer serviced recently... when was the brake fluid last chaged?

Dealer service done May/2022 and brake fluid changed. So i'm happy with that. Its always been dealer serviced at the appropriate time.

Thanks to all for the help.
