There are so many of these up for sale on Autotrader and eBay. On face value seems like a decent amount of car for the money.....what is the catch? Lower resale value than a UKDM car? No reliable history from Japan/risk it was clocked at some point before being registered here? Or am I just too cynical?!

History and mileage can be confirmed with the correct documents. To me having owned a Japanese import, the only downsides are radio/sat nav doesn’t work in the UK, which isn’t a problem to change, and road tax.

The road tax can be a bonus if you’re buying a car which in the UK you would pay £600 for as the highest road tax for an import is £300 you would need to check this. One look underneath a fresh import and you will see the positives, shiny original nuts and bolts even on 20+ years old cars.
