Hi all

On my fourth R8, a 2021 Performance, and the Drive Select will randomly reset itself to Comfort mode on start up. Previous car stayed in Individual, which is what I want. Seems to happen randomly after a couple of day or sometimes on the next start-up in the same day. Local Audi dealer is saying there are no reported software issues etc.

Is anyone else having this issue? Thanks in advance.

My 2022 Performance CB has also done this from new back in February - after every drive it then starts up again in comfort.

Meant to add - it’s going in for its first service shortly and have asked them to check this is normal.

Would you let me know what they say please? Thanks

Yup will do - my wife has just got a brand new RS4 and whilst slightly different to the R8 options I’ve noticed that the individual mode per se remains always on but the RS mode definitely needs reactivation on start up each time.

Yeah, had an RS5 that did the same.
My suspicion is its something to do with emissions etc, but the dealer just can't be definitive. The randomness of it seems strange. Thanks again

You might be spot on with emissions as assume your new one is your first to have gpf pipes - that said doesn’t explain why mine has never defaulted to individual automatically.
My wife’s previous RS3 obviously had no gpf pipes as that always defaulted to individual.
Will let you know.

It will be the new emissions bks. Even jaguar F types that were going in for “emission updates” means it wouldn’t save the “dynamic mode” setting. It would default to start up on comfort.

Mac , update following my cars first service today - according to their R8 tech and as we thought, cars equipped with GPF's will not retain their individual mode selected, once engine turned off.He thought also it might be on the grounds of safety ie if someone unfamiliar with the car then turned it on in individual mode etc...
I'm dubious as to the second reason personally.
He also said they couldn't change this.
Hey ho.

On the RS4 you need to configure RS1 and RS2 with the individual settings, then you can scroll between them and Comfort using the RS button on the steering wheel.

Indeed but even then on re starting you need to reactivate the RS button on the 4 which as we have found on the 8 is all to do with those pesky gpf’s.
