Hi I bought a 2018 golf GTE from Cazoo. In the specs it was meant to have 18 inch 'Marseille' alloys which i then noticed were wheel trims. They asked if i still wanted the car and would look at compensation. Anyway FF to today I've got the car and I'm happy with it, however I've bought some used alloys from a 2018 e golf with the same size tyres on but they don't fit. Something to do with the ET rating, so I've went to VW and apparently the car came factory with the Marseille alloys on they were 5JX18H2 ET51. I'm lost now when it comes to buying some used ones that fit, what rim size can i get? Do they have to be ET51? Any help anyone can give to help me would be appreciated.

They will have to be the same size as the standard fitment.
The ET reference is called the offset which is important.
Googling it will explain it better than I can!

5x18 is a slightly funny size, but maybe the eGolf came with narrow wheels and tyres for the eco credentials.

Look on the back of the wheels you have bought, find the size marked on them and post it on here.

A Golf GTE should come with the Marseille wheels that were an option on the GT/R Line. I dont think there is anything special about them for the GTE.

Golf E wheels i think are just the same size as 16" steels on Golfs, so would come with 205/55/16 I would imagine they still fit okay.

Can you use some spacers? Would that work?

Compare the wheel sizes here: https://www.wheel-size.com/

what size wheels did the car come with? width, diameter, offset ? and what size tyres ?
what size wheels did you buy? again width, diamater, offset ?

this info should be stamped on the wheels eg my GTD 18's are 7.5Jx18 ET49

when you say they 'dont fit' can you expand on that? They dont fit onto the hub? They foul the brake caliper?

Why not just buy a set of the Marseille alloys the car should have come with, there’s plenty on sale in the usual places , gti/gte/gtd all have the same size 18” alloys and will be 7.5 not 5” as you said ,
After saying that the golf e wheels should fit your car
