Climate control motors!
Discussion
2005 A4 - intermittent mechanical clicking noise behind the glove box. Sounds like a mechamism trying to work, but reaching the limit of travel and bouncing softly off the stops. Had it in a Saab, it was the motor for the recirculation flap, which got me thinking along the same lines.
10 mins on google pointed me at the CC motors, glovebox out and I can see all but the brown one are moving cleanly and freely. The brown one though, the arm only moves through quite a limited range, around a quarter of a turn, and it does this incrementally about 5 degrees at a time if that, not in one smooth motion. When it gets to the stops, it is still trying to move further before eventuall giving up. Pretty sure I've found the culprit.
1) Should it move more than this limited range?
2) Should it move more smoothly or is this incremental movement normal?
3) Can anything be done to coax it back into life, as they are £207 from the dealer.
