Audi A5 cab - which model?

My daily shed Merc CLK cab has gone off to the scrapyard so looking at what to replace it. Got an A4 cab which is pretty practical and reliable and so tempted to add an Audi A5 cab to replace the Merc. Youtube reviews suggest its better than the equivalent Mercedes too.

Any advice on what engine choice or in general? Looking at older cars circa £6k - £10k. Not the fun car so performance not a massive issue and lower tax and running costs welcomed so more budget can be allocated to the fun car pot.

Infrequent usage and when I do, its usually a longish drive. Tempted by the diesels for RFL and MPG reasons but not adverse to petrol either so seeking some views here. At my price point the cars have some miles and in my head I have it that the diesels will be more reliable at higher miles but no idea if I am talking st.

If you're not overly bothered by performance does a facelift 1.8T petrol come into budget?

I like the 3.0 TDI too but will be an older, high mileage car at that money.
