Audi S4 B8 or 8.5

Can anyone help with a question about an S4 I'm looking at, please?

Looking for my first Audi and from the little bit of research I've done the facelift was in 2012 for the S4? The car in the link seems to be a facelift model but is registered as a 2010. Does that seem right? Have I just got my dates wrong?

Front looks like facelift, defintely.

But as youve rightly said, a 2010 should not be a facelift.

Interesting gap in MOT history between 2014 and 2017, during which it only covered only 400 miles....


Crashed, and off the road whilst the front end was being redone maybe?

It also has a facelift gearknob and steering wheel. Wheels are from a later version too, May have had a facelift conversion done to it after an unrecorded incident and if so probably remapped too

Its definitely a 2011 model year (checked the vin carefully using one of the photos on the advert). 10th digit is a "B", which means 2011. Therefore, totally impossible for it to be a B8.5 as they were 2013 onwards.

Definitely had a face-lift front end fitted along with gear knob etc. Most likely has had a front end crash, replaced with B8.5 parts including wheels. Might even be unrecorded. I wouldn't go near it (only a personal opinion).

Also, its got "Aptany" Chinese yang yang ditch finder tyres on it, probably been run on a shoe string.

Oh, and its also got stupid front illegal window tints. (Unless you like that sort of thing).

The dash/displays look pre-facelift - A/C panel, media buttons, 200mph speedo etc.

As above, I would suspect the front end was swapped after accident damage and as such would be suspicious of anything that might be 'lurking' behind it...

Good point re:steering wheel.. possible airbag deployment on the original? Or possibly just wanted to change for a later wheel..
