No, I'm not trading in the Corrado. An old student of mine has found a Mk2 bargain and he wants to have a look at some good Golf web sites to find out a bit more about the Mk2. I, of course, suggested that he join PH, but he is interested in more specialist sites too. All advice will be much appreciated.

Thanks!

I have never found CGTI to be that good, but maybe that's just me.

I've owned a couple of MKIIs (16v and 8v) for several years so feel free to mail me if your friend has any questions.

That's a good resource. I've had my mk2 gti for a few months and it's been a bit of a pain sorting out the issues I've had but they're very good cars imo, a lot of fun

Lots of old posts on PH & cgti would no doubt help your mate out if you use the search functions & the right keywords.

I agree Clubgti is an an excellent resource. Parts are very cheapp from German & Swedish or Eurocarparts. If your friend can wield a spanner and carry out basic servicing then you can run a MK2 on very few pennies.

This is a really good V.A.G website, in my experience owning a MK2 = ££££ but then again mine is hardly standard !.

Thanks! I did warn him that VW parts were expensive, but this seems to be a bit of a bargain. Hopefully it won't be a lemon.

Parts are very reasonable from the likes of German & Sweedish or Euro Car Parts. Its only the Main Stealer that is expensive.
