We are thinking of converting our T5 to use for camping trips etc, I don’t really know where to start looking.
Ideally would like a pop up roof, bed and some kitchen units without going overboard.
I can do most of the work myself so that may help, maybe the pop up roof is best left to a specialist.
Captains seats if that’s what they are called in the front would be a bonus.
Currently it’s a mostly standard 2006 Lwb model with a lift up tailgate.
My father in law got a price a year or so ago and was quoted £14000 to convert to a decent spec and that astounded me.
If it’s going to be silly money we would consider trading to a more modern van converted but these seem to start at £25k.

Not T5 specific but I've just entered the transporter world mainly for camping and more fun stuff with the 3 kids and dog. Probably rushed into it a little earlier than planned but work agreed I could have it and still get my car allowance, though I'd strike before HR realised what they actually were.

During my research I visited a few converters for advice etc and was told that a pop top could be done for £2.5k and a "day van" set up for £5k easily. I was asking about a T6.

Thanks, I started my research last night and it would seem to diy it nicely is coming in around £5k as you say.
The scene is crazy price wise but people are mad for it.

Loads of options about for this, I've been considering similar.

I would probably do all the slow jobs like strip out and lining it again myself but then buy a pre-made kit to re-fit for the bed and side units.

Roof can be done by a pro pretty quickly and for about 2.5k.

EVO for the units - https://www.evomotiondesign.co.uk/

Austop or Skyline roof for under £3k, tried and tested, but pick your fitter carefully

Streamline rock and roll bed £2.5k for tested and mot friendly, about half that for non tested.
