hi, i am having some problems with my mk2 91 golf gti. i left it with my mechanic for a clutch replacement and when he had done that he couldn't get the engine started. he said that the injectors were firing full time instead of intermittently, leaving the bores full of petrol. i am told this is because he has left the earth lead off the gearbox which causes the ecu to short when the engine is attempted to be started, which in turn causes the injectors to operate all the time. thing is, i don't think he would have forgotten to reconnect the earth lead, so is there anything else which could cause this? thanks

You could say to your mechanic that you have found this potential cause and could he check the voltage drop across the earth lead. In that way you won't be suggesting that he hasn't reconnected it but he will have to ensure that it is connected in order to measure the voltage drop across it.
