Long story short. It’s my turn to have a 2 seater car so the missus TTS and my train station hatch are being sold and the money folded into a single car.

She likes the Quattro for the snow (1 day a year) and liked the Forester Turbo she had a few years back so a Q3 RS seems to fit the bill.

The problem is that we need a towbar for carrying the bikes, so on paper it’s a good match, but every supplier site I visit, does not list a RS derivative option for the Q3.

Has anyone ever had one fitted?.(To a Q3 RS)

I suspect it may be that the RS is not type approved for towing, therefore suppliers will not list a towbar for it.
It may be that the normal Q3 towbar would fit, but they would not tell you (because RS not type approved for towing).

It is perfectly legal to fit a towbar to a non type approved car, it can be used for bike racks etc. just not for towing. Some towbar suppliers will fit towbars to non approved cars if a disclaimer is signed about not towing.
The difficult bit is finding out if a Q3 towbar will fit an RS.

Ignore me if the RS is type approved for towing.

Thank you.

That actually makes a great deal of sense.

Yes they do exist, mostly fixed , but looks looks like Brink do a detachable one?
P F Jones are very good etc etc.
Personally if not changing tyres a 4 x 4 is just as bad as a 2 wheel drive , my old Golf r was useless.
Im pretty sure its not illegal to fit to a non type approved vehicle, but most likely illegal to use it? The car will have no towing limit stamped on it?
Could invalidate your insurance.
