Hi,

I’m looking at buying a 2019 A6 and the dealer is not a main dealer so has no access to the service history of the car. Spoke to Audi UK on live chat and all they could do was give me my nearest dealers number to try them.

Phoned the dealer and they wouldn’t give me the information, basically as I’m not buying from them.

Is there any other way to confirm if this car will have a service history?

Cheers

If you know the VIN number you can view the service history with the 'My Audi' app - at least I can view both mine and the Wife's this way.

Have you checked this recently? I have a Skoda and used to be able to check this on the MySkoda app and now the option is gone.

Yes, just looked now; > service topics > service schedule > service history.

To add, I think service history may also be available on the erwin website - though it may require a subscription?

Thank you for checking.

Yes erwin requires a subscription, i think it's more for garages to use.

Don't you need to be 'activated' as the cars owner? Or can you just plug in a VIN and see?

You can register yourself, as I have, for access to Audi's ErWin system as a garage. smile

I don't recall having to activate anything with mine.

As far as I remember, I just downloaded the app and used the VIN to set it up when I got the S4 and simply added the Q2 in the same way when we bought that?

I do recall using some kind of code in an app at the dealership when we picked up the Q2 but, I think that was for Audi connect which we've never used and the S4 doesn't have anyway - it has no SIM card slot so predates the app, though the My Audi app is offering me an Audi DataPlug Retrofit for £35.29 which I believe enables Connect?

Actually, out of curiosity I just tried to add a car using the VIN of a friend's Audi and it loads the vehicle info and shows the spec., extras etc. but not the service history.

It tells me that I need to "Contact your local Audi partner saved in myAudi, to be set as the owner" so it looks like you need to have an Audi dealer authorise it to get it fully functional? mine has been serviced by an independent in recent years but was originally serviced by the dealer and so was likely 'enabled' then.

I think erWin has all the info but not sure what you can get, I signed up for a a few hours once so that I could download service manuals etc. but didn't look into the service history side whilst there.

You need to find a 'helpful' person in the know to sort it for you...

Thanks just done this and can now see the history. Why do they have to make it such a chore?

Its changed slightly for the trade too, in the past you could add a service and then print off all services, Mercedes still lets you, BMW and Audi only let you print off the ones you add. Its stupid really as no customer information shows, just where and when a car was serviced,

Thanks very much for confirming.

I did contact somebody on here that said they could look into it a few years ago, but no luck with a response unfortunately.
