So last night the missus car started flashing the glow plug light, when she went to leave work the car wouldn't start. Her clients husband managed to finally get it running but started juddering and then cut out down the road when stopped at a junction and wouldn't start again.

Car has drove fine since she got it a couple month ago, but she did recently mention a burning diesel smell when sat at lights/junctions etc. And also a small amount of white smoke on a start up in the morning only.

Her uncle thinks it's probably an injector which seem to be a common issue in the pd170, is it likely to be this? And am I correct in thinking seat had a recall for the injectors?

Does the PD170 have a dpf ?

You need to get the fault codes read. Got a VW group indie nearby ?

Yes the PD170 has a DPF, the PD170 was loosely based on the PD140 which didn't have a DPF, they fitted a DPF and replaced the Bosch set up with Siemens PPD injectors and ECU.

Yes there was a re-call on the injectors, what year is the car.

Car is a 2008 PFL, going to contact a local seat dealer at the weekend to see if it's previously been in for recall. Just wasn't sure if there had been as I couldn't find anything official about there being a recall for them.

Car gets a good run most days of the week and also had a trip down to the lake district from Newcastle a couple weeks ago so didn't think it would be dpf.

Hopefully be able to get it scanned at the weekend by a local garage if not there's a couple local vag specialists I'll try. I'm just surprised at how it quickly went from running fine to cutting out and not wanting to start up again with very little warning.

Ah yeh it will be PD170 then mid 2008 early 2009 was the changeover to CR170. I owned a 58 plate PD170 (ran it at 240bhp for a while), a mate had an 58 CR170.

Contact the garage responsible and explain what’s happened, see what they say first.
Fitting error would be unusual but not impossible.
