I'm looking to buy an A4 Avant, 2017 or thereabouts. All the reviews praise the A4's comfortable ride but the one I tested [S-line] was too firm for my liking. I believe the S-line usually comes with lowered sports suspension and to get the lauded ride quality, one should avoid this spec, is this correct? For me, looking for a ride tuned more for comfort than sport I need a SE or Sport spec? Same sports suspension issue with the 'ultra' spec too I think. But some S-line had sports suspension delete at factory and some have adaptive suspension which gets favourable reviews. However none of the adverts I have looked at mention comfort suspension or adaptive so how do I know if a car I am looking at has it?

Why not go for an A4 Allroad?

All the reviews I have read rave about the compliant ride

S Line in the A4 I found too firm also. I traded it for an S Line A6 which was just about okay.

The Allroad has a much better ride I found.

As an A4 SLine owner I don't think it's too bad. But if you want comfort in that class you need a Volvo V60!
