VW Golf servicing
Discussion
I have a 2018 Golf 1.4 TSI DSG, bought last year with a 2 year warranty from a VW main dealer. Additionally, I purchased a service plan with my local VW garage, that covered 1 minor and 1 major service.
Once the service plan expires and it's outside of the 2 year warranty, not sure what to do next....I've heard warranty extensions are not always worthwhile due to limitations of coverage. However I am also aware that if any issues crop up in the future on either the TSI engine or DSG, thats potentially big bills. I want to ensure I stay on top of oil changes whilst not paying over the odds of there isn't really a need e.g main dealer servicing costs
Interested to know what others have done or would do? We are likely to hold onto this car for a few years as we purchased outright, it is practical enough and sufficient poke for my needs etc

VAG brands offer "all-in" deals that include basic servicing, MoT and warranty for 2 years at a time. You might be in the target market by the sound of things. Note that these offers won't include additional service items like brake fluid, spark plugs, DSG oil etc if required... so not quite as comprehensive as they make out.
Main dealers do have higher overheads and only you can decide whether the reassurance of a warranty is valuable for your circumstances. I run three VAG vehicles in the age range 5-9 years old, two with DSG 'boxes. I am happy to maintain these to the highest standard I can at independent specialists without warranties.

I wasn't aware that VAG offers further 2 year deals for cars older than 3 years but il look into this...at least to cover the basic items.Main dealers do have higher overheads and only you can decide whether the reassurance of a warranty is valuable for your circumstances. If I can find a good indy in E.London or Essex then that's certainly another option to cover ongoing servicing needs, be done with the warranty given their questionable t&C's, just focus on preventative maintenance to a decent standard and keep aside funds for when things do go wrong...hopefully won't be too many!
