Which Audi 5 cyl would work in terms of best bangs per buck? What about brake & suspension mods, too?

rather than do a audi transplant, youd be better off just getting a jetta gti 16v, theyre cheap as chips and will probably have better performance as theyre 137bhp and will be far lighter than an audi engined conversion.

why not go 20v turbo route a bit more hassle as 16v transplant but potential for 300bhp+ failing that vr6

I agree about the Jetta Gti 16v ; I had one in early 90`s in lovely blue colour . Drove it on the Mulsanne straight at Le Mans amongst other places and it was a very nice machine . Only sold it as insurance went stupid at the time . I just can`t see the point in paying money for for a modification like this though when you could by a vento VR6 for £2k .

cheers, folks. I just LOVE the sound of the 5 cyls and the body on Jerry is sound for some years ahead, and thought it'd be a cool mod to try.

Meanwhile, he must've known I was broody, so just after posting this on saturday, decided to throw a wobbly by giving a dodgy tappet rattle like I aint ever heard before. Typical

5 cylinder warble is pretty addictive. Especially when tubocharged! Suggest you post a question about you 'aims ambitions and transplant ideas' on www.s2forum.com.

And yes - standard 2.2 5cly turbo + chip gives you 290 odd extremely reliable horses...(and a truck load of torque)
