hoping someone might have more insight.

Am looking for a car for my daughter and the Polo's and Ibiza's seem to fit the bill perfectly.

Looking at the adverts and from 2010 there seems to be an aweful lot of them Cat S.. repaired.. I will avoid getting into that (and wont buy one) but why so many? Are they fragile and break easy to a point of huge price to fix or is it simply there are so many bought by drivers who then wreck them?

Bought by young drivers so higher chance of being in an accident. Relatively low value so higher chance of repair being uneconomic (at full insurance job bodyshop rates).

Looking for a polo for similar reasons. Does seem alot have been bumped.

I guess they are used as go carts by the new drivers.

As above, really. A lot of first car, city car, station carpark, nervous driver etc. use.
