Query for anyone in the know / opinions

Understand that values of pretty much all used cars have rocketed - but after casually browsing Mk4 R32 i didn't realise these have risen quite so much - there one avialable on AT with 80K for a shade under £30k!?

Appreciate they are will becoming collectable (maybe as much as a Clio V6?) Currently owning a Mk1 TT with the same milage, care / condition & idential running gear / powertrain, why is the TT generally valued so much lower?

Is the TT siginficantly less desireable or is it due being less practical (i.e. not a hot hatch?)

If the R32 is becoming collectable then they will probably be used less & not as an everyday car - thus is practicality less of an issue? If so then will the values of the TT 3.2 be dragged up by the rise in value of the R32?

You can get a decent Mk5 for less than £9k. The Mk5 was an all round better car than the Mk4

Oh no denying the MK5 is a better car but as a comparison between VW and Audi - the MK4 and TT share the same underpinnings but with the Audi having the equivilent engine to the MK5 R32 (MK4 was lower bhp) So the TT is a bit of both Mk4 & 5

Haha sadly not! There are a few for £17k upwards but they are not silly low milers....

I guess what I'm saying is R32 probably aren't going up that much? The £30k thing is just plain weird.

I loved my R32 & My TT. Most people prefer the 225 TT because the bhp isn't much less than the 3.2, but the weight is less front end.

Was yours a MK4 or MK5? I can see a bit of nostalgia with the MK4 but agree it is strange pricing on some of them... not say they would ever achieve it though. The lowest milers of 3.2 TT are rarely above £12k though in comparison.

Sure the 4 cyl TT will handle better but the sound of the VR6 hooks people!

Another example - Blue MK4 @ garage in Sheffield - 133k and £15975... A TT with that mileage is a third of the price...

I wish...it's an old picture. I sold the car in 2015.

Rarity? Cult following? It's worth what people would pay for it. I might pay £5k for one because I don't think they're worth that much. *shrug*

I'd have expected the TT 3.2 to be commanding a far higher price as it's rare and the most powerful of this icon.

R32 Golf Mk4 really does look good - a nice silver mk4 R32 was in the Wallingford Rally this weekend.

They are undoubtedly nice. I quite fancy one.

But for £30k, you could have a similarly aged Vantage V8.

£30k not for me.
I’d go for a v12 DB7 I think

The reviews aren't great. I might go for a DB9 with a Larini because like any true PHer, after posting my reply, I went to Autotrader and spotted an ad for a DB9 with a Larini exhaust.
