Hi folks, I have a 2010 Octavia vRS. I want to fit a multi function SW from the same model. Anyone done this? Is it relatively easy?
Any help appreciated.

Thanks

Presuming it's the same as the MK5 and MK6 Golf set up, sometimes it isn'[t just as easy as switching the wheels. My memory isn't great but there's something behind the steering wheel that might need changing and it might also need coding with VCDS to switch on some of the functions.

I remember this as I wanted to retrofit cruise control to my MK5 Golf and managed it, after a few attempts and many Google searches later

Many on the Briskoda forum have carried out that change. Plenty of advice on there.

If I remember correctly its much easier if you have the maxidot clocks (the one thats a proper Black and white LCD screen rather than looking like a casio watch)

i think you have ton swap either a bit of loom or the ring that fits behind the wheel. And it will need coding

My advice would be to get the steering wheel and slip ring from the same car. Then you have no compatibility worries.

Sure there's Ross-Tech tables out there to tell you what parts you need but they are not always 100% accurate. The slip rings have a HW and SW number and if the SW isn't right then it doesn't matter what your HW number is, or what the table says it does.

No slight against Ross-Tech btw... the support they offer retrofitters is second-to-none and they do their utmost best. Very grateful for them.

Thanks for the help folks, decided quite honestly I can't be arsed as I have more pressing things to do - don't worry, car related, just not this one!
