2011 VW Tiguan
Discussion
Hey all,
Sadly my old VW Jetta was written off in a crash last month and so we've replaced it with a 2011-plate VW Tiguan (I literally picked it up this afternoon).
First impressions are really good, however, the car is missing cruise control and the infotainment is pretty ancient - does anyone have any recommendations for updated head units that would retain existing features (i.e. being compatible with the buttons on the steering wheel) and how easy are these to source? Also, how easy is it to retrofit and code cruise control?
Cheers!

I updated my vw unit with a OEM rcd330 and had both desay and noname models. The desay didn't have the niggly bugs the noname one does but didn't have android auto. The niggly bugs could just be my radio and can elaborate if needed. Both plug and play and can retain steering wheel buttons but do check for your model and year.
As for cruise control and coding, its easy if you know what you're doing as with everything but it is just a new stalk and coding. Theres 2 people around an hour from Nottinghamshire that I know of. Dubunit, who come highly recommended and heard glowing reviews about but not been myself. The other I can talk from experience which is bellmans auto electricians in Sheffield who did the cruise control on my caddy. They really know their vag lemons and would highly recommend from my own experience

It's a bit more than just the stalk and coding, you need new cowling for the steering wheel surround too. I had it done to my old Audi S1 by a company called HazzyDayz and they came to my house in Northamptonshire to do it:

Was your cruise control on a separate stalk though? On my caddy the cruise control buttons are on the indicator stalk so the standard stalk just gets swapped for one with the cruise buttons. Id imagine the OP is the same set up as mine but may be wrong.
ETA ive just been looking at pricing. I also paid a hell of a lot less than £360 for supply and fit.

It's on the same stalk - my wife has one of the last mk1's Tiguans from Sept 2015 and we very nearly ordered it without realising cruise was an option. Demo had it and salesman told us it was standard but it was only made standard when they did a final bump to the spec as mk1 was being replaced by the mk2.
We needed one from stock and one dealer offered to retrofit it at no cost, so I assume it's not a big deal. We found one locally that had been ordered with it (and power mirrors, also an option).
