Anyone got one? - a neighbour of mine has a white R -Line which looks nice. Looking at the specs there are a lot of three cylinder petrol engines, but you can elect for the 1.5 litre four-pot (150PS) that you will find in a Tiguan coupled with the 7-speed DSG box. That looks appealing - and presumably has reasonable performance in this smaller car?

Overall specs are OK so long as you dig in to the options list for heated seats and keyless etc. I like the grey paint with metallic black roof combo for a reasonable £225 extra.

I am confused what size this thing is - Polo based, Golf based? Bigger or smaller than T Roc?

I have the 1.5 TSI in my formentor and power is okay but the gearbox kills it. To get anything out of it you have to put it in sport mode all the time.

I'd rather have more power and not need to.

Was in a VW dealership a couple of weeks back looking at a possible replacement for the Wife's car and the salesman was telling us that it's based on the T-Cross which, in turn is Polo based whereas the T-Roc is Golf based.

its a T-Roc with a coupe roofline isn't it, as seems to be the trend lately. I didn't get it when they first started doing it and I still don't!

I find there's a marked difference in pre and post OPF gearbox software. The latter often feels unresponsive.

T-Cross coupe, I'm told.

With you on the SUV/Coupe though, always thought it was a pigs ear of a concept from the first one I saw - X6 anyone? hurl

As I understand it - essentially based on the Polo platform. Its about 200mm longer than a regular Polo.

To be honest, I have the 310 model, and the gearbox still kills it in comfort mode......In fact, so much so, that we have now had a number of occasions where the car stalls as the box wants you to pull away in second (as a default design setting to smooth out the acceleration and save fuel I believe) but the auto handbrake hasn't fully released quick enough. I used to have exactly the same issue in my 2015 Golf GTD DSG and as you can imagine, not the quickest thing to restart and get going again.

VAG cars seem to have suffered worst since WLTP/OPF.
