Just replaced the Conti Sport 5s on my Golf R for a full set of Michelin PS4S first impressions are they are much quieter and the grips amazing. Added bonus Michelin are doing a £100 cashback Spring offer so all in £560 👍

I liked them in the dry, but not the wet, or their wear rate. Would be night and day to the old Contis, I don't rate those.

Replaced with Goodyear F1 5 and seeing almost 50% more miles out of them. Better in the wet too.

Early reviews of the new Conti are very good, but the Michelin and Goodyear are imminently due replacement too.

Would you mind letting me know where you got the £100 off (25 per tyre I assume?)? I assume it’s because the 5 is just out.

Thanks in advance.

What don't you like about them in the wet?
I have PS4s and they are brilliant - they also top must charts in wet braking and handling/grip

Those GY F1 5s might wear better but they`re noisy and uncomfortable.

I went back to the Michelins and have no issue with wet grip.

Had the tyres fitted locally the cashback offer is direct from Michelin you pay your tyre depot there retail price and then submit your claim online with a download of your invoice you then have a choice of cashback straight to your chosen bank account or a Mastercard with credit, it applies to all Michelin tyres not just the 4s and the cashback value depends on your wheel size/two or four tyres 19" and above being the most. Type in google (Michelin spring offer) just check that your tyre depot is participating in the offer.

I have found the GY F1s, in various specs, to be one of the nicest, quietest and most compliant performance tyres - especially on noisy UK asphalt.
They certainly quote lower comparable dB ratings on the tech specs.
I currently run them on a Golf GTD, Clio RS and 991.2, all of which have subjectively pleasant comfort levels.

Ditto, on an S5, just got some new F1 Assymetric 5’s to replace the previous 3’s. Very compliant and comfortable for a 30 aspect performance tyre.

Holy thread.... etc.

OP, do you have 19s on your R? I've been looking for some PS4s's for my R, but I don't think they make them in an 18". Are the standard non-S PS4 good?

The PS4S is now available in the UK in 225/40-18 , due to it being standard fit on the GR Yaris.

FYI, a PS5 and an F1A6 have just been launched.

Excellent, thank you Yaris. I can now finally compare them to my current F1 SuperSport.
