Spotted a 2013 one of these in Autotrader as I am looking for a runabout car for a few months. I was surprised as I thought the full electric version was a newish model but turns out it was originally introduced in 2013. The one I am looking at is low miles and well specced (the E models al head heated seats and digital climate control) but what about the batteries? Is this a really bad idea as the car is coming up to nine years old and maybe battery performance is depleted?

I'm looking for something thats not going to lose much value over a few months (until my Up GTi arrives in May/June). My other idea was an Mx-5 as they tend to be easier to sell in the middle of summer.

I only need a car to transport myself by the way.

Any thoughts?

I wouldn’t buy something with a battery like that personally. They are great cars but they will be early tech, battery degradation is a thing that will have taken hold and in winter you won’t be looking at much range to a full charge.

I hear VW have relocated the production plant near the Yorkshire Moors (where they grow the Tea).
