Audi S7 buying guide
Discussion
It’s getting towards the time to chop in my 635D which has done me proud and the S7 is looks like a potential replacement As a newbie to Audi I’m asking for any info on what to look out for etc, budget wise I’m looking at a 2014/2016 model upto 60k

Check when the revised oil feeds to the turbos were introduced and/or budget for changing them on a car that didn’t have those parts. The earlier ones clog up which kills the turbos eventually
Make sure all the electrics work (they’re usually pretty reliable) and if possible scan with VCDS to confirm no lurking faults

Try and get a post 2015 facelift model. The front grill and headlights look a lot sharper. The engine may be a tad more powerful as well.
Other than the oil screen as previously mentioned, check the PCV. I’ve had a 2015 S6 and the previous owner had one of the cam chain tensioners fail which necessitated new tensioners and chains being fitted. I think the bill was over £4K.
The engine has two high pressure fuel pumps which seem to fail too.
The DSG gearbox will probably need a service if it hasn’t already had one.
The engine responds well to remapping and a Stage 1 would get you worrying RS6’s.

Box oil every 40k, important.
Engine oil every year is ideal, and regular oil seems a good way to avoid the aforementioned clogging issue. I've seen very few cars suffer this and sold a lot of 4.0TTs.
Most are of a fairly basic specification (likely ex-lease cars).
Brake discs are expensive, model specific, and Audi only. Seriously, they're only slightly cheaper than RS6 ones, and the fronts last ~30k.

Thanks for the replies , looking around a decent mileage facelift like this is within my budget, is there anything spec wise looking out for and how have prices faired over the last year ?
