A3 35 1.4TFSI Engined Cambelt intervals
Discussion
VAG UK brands vary between recommending (but not mandating) 4-6 year intervals, through to ~60k miles with regular inspection thereafter (as in mainland Europe). Some service documentation says that EA211 engines have "lifetime" cambelts fitted, but many will err on the side of caution.
I've heard various cases made from cautious replacement through to continued inspection. Either way, I think the consensus is that there's not a widespread issue with snapped cambelts on this design of engine.
I run a 2017 Fabia with the 1.2 110hp version of the EA211 engine and will be going down the inspection route as it's our runabout with only 20k miles.
