Recently been contemplating ordering a new RS3 but with long delivery times and dealers charging a huge premium on cars they have in stock I,m having serious second thoughts. Although not a big fan of electric cars at the moment another worry is whats going to happen to ICE cars at this price and above in a couple of years time when electric sales really take off I can see massive depreciation round the corner for all vehicles its already here for diesel. Old CRT televisions soon disappeared when LCD screens came out, like it or not it may take slightly longer but as prices come down and range gets longer technology is going to win again with electric cars.

As a topic this is already very well covered, and as it's largely a matter of opinion there's not a huge amount of point starting the discussion again.

If you want an electric car and it fits with your use, then buy one.

If you want an RS3 they cost what they cost, and supply of almost everything is limited/slow. A number of the markups you've seen, particularly those by Audi dealers, are because they don't want to sell their demo. They want/need it to sell more of them.

Performance ICE cars have gone up in price/value, not down. Performance car enthusiasts will likely want to continue buying them for a good while after electric sales make up the majority of brand new cars. It's equally possible this will buoy values.

And theres me going to see a gas guzzling B7 RS4 tomorrow and hoping its in the condition that the owner is telling me `cause im having it. I need one in my life. Live your life with what you want and know, not what you dont know, just do it, you only live once.

You might as well close the curtains, pull down the shutters, lock the doors and not come out to do anything if you worry that much.

Only older pre Euro 6 heavily polluting diesels have dropped in value all others have increased in value along with most cars at all price levels over the last 12 months.

As new car registrations have fallen this has increased used values due to fewer used cars on the market.

This will also happen with ICE cars especially desirable and niche ones as we approach the 2030s.
