Hi all,

A little confused on the diff service terms Seat use and what I need next.

Fixed service regime (since Jul 21, was variable prior)

Car is flagging that I need an oil service shortly. An inspection is due 10K miles / 365 days later.

Are these just terms for minor/interim service and major service?

So oil change = minor/interim
Inspection = major

Seat's website terms it interim or major and the car calls it something diff.

So if I need an oil service I need an interim service?

Cheers all.

This should see you right:

1 year/10k = Oil service

2 year/20k = Oil & Inspection service

3 year/30k = Oil service

4 year/40k = Oil & Inspection service

..and repeat...

a MAJOR service is usually on mileage, i.e whenever the car gets to 40k miles (or 6 years if you don't get to 40k first) you do spark plugs on a petrol or fuel filter on a diesel, usually air and pollen filters too.

FYI - the franchise operators (i.e. a "main dealer") often recite a lot of bks contrary to the above, timing belts every 4 years, every other service should be a "major"... ...it's all cobblers.

We have a VW and a SEAT and the servicing does my head in. The VW is on variable servicing and, after being serviced it shows 2 yrs to oil change but one year to inspection. Comes up all the time on VW forums and dealers say they're baffled but the VW regime for variable servicing does say that after 2yrs the car needs an inspection every year.

So your SEAT being on fixed interval but showing another year to an inspection seems a bit odd.

Whatever, the only things the dealers seem able to do is minor (or interim in SEAT's case) and Major services.
