Red Audi R8 - First Generation / V8 / Type 42... in red
Discussion
I've been on the lookout for a manual V8 Audi R8 for about 6 months and I'm not having much luck.
Not totally sure putting a 'wanted' request on Pistonheads is allowed - so maybe I could re frame it as a: How Many Left? type question.
I've got searches set up on here and Auto Trader and they seem to crop up on a weekly basis - however the problem I'm having is with the colour...
...V8 R8s are a bit conservative when it comes to colour - Grey / Black / Silver.. or white. Not keen on the light blue.
But I really want one in red (and I don't want to resort to a wrapped one).
There is one in red for sale with a dealer in Wales (thats not the dealer for me).
Was red a very limited or unpopular colour for R8's?... I've only ever seen one other forsale in red and missed out on that one.

Yes. It simply wasn't a shade that many European buyers wanted. There was a period with a good few V10s around as a load of the press/media/brochure cars were Misano red.
Assuming you've already got eyes on R8 talk?
Yes I signed up, but not got too involved yet - But I might try a similar post over there.
I'm surprised the only red V8 for sale has hung around for so long - it even had a price drop in December.
MK1 R8s have been an exercise in bandwagon jumping recently.
Everyone tells you their car is perfect, an appreciating asset, correctly maintained, fault-free etc. In reality very few are. Genuinely good cars, priced fairly normally sell quickly.
Could be the colour. Could be a crap car. Could be both.
