Apologies in advance if I get something wrong or if this is a stupid question. I’m not a regular, and no expert, just trying to help out a family member.

2017 VW Polo. Think it’s the generation before the current.

Whenever a light is used - headlights, brakes, indicators, reverse etc. a yellow light comes up on the dash.

On starting the car there are 2 warning messages - presumably for both DRLs? - then whenever another light comes on another message pops up. Light error.

There is also the image of the car on the infotainment screen and all the external lights on the car are shaded in yellow.

Lights all work absolutely fine, car drives normally.

Any ideas?

Any more info needed please let me know.

Thanks.

Have you checked the number plate light?

No I haven’t, silly me, many thanks.

Don’t have access to the car now but will report back as soon as we can check.

If it is a single light like the number plate light, is it normal for the error to appear every time an unrelated light is turned on? Sorry, am not familiar with VWs but never had this happen on other cars.

Thanks.

If literally every bulb is working fine (brakes, high beams, fogs, all those ones nobody ever checks smile ), the next place I would be looking is the earth at the multiplug on the tail lights.

A slightly dodgy earth is enough to set off a bulb-fail warning.
