My sister has a 2013 1.4 TSi Mk6 Golf with 68k miles. Full service history and well maintained with recent major service back in July including a new cambelt, tensioner and water pump.

Recently the EPC light came on as well as the low oil light which I think are unrelated. I got her to go and get the codes read at a local, well respected VW specialist and they came back with:

P008700 - Fuel Rail/System pressure low
P2266300 - Turbo Boost System Performance

The Turbo boost issue points to the turbo actuator which I know is an issue on the 1.4TSi. The techs are talking about possible turbo damage but I believe she'd be really unlucky to have this as well. Is this a fair assessment?

Could the Fuel Pressure code have been triggered by the turbo not giving the right level of boost pressure? ie could this be an effect rather a separate problem?

When the oil light came on, she checked the level and found it down to the minimum so topped it up with 1 litre of oil. Since then it's dipped a little more. There are zero leaks on the engine, it's as clean as a whistle. Does anyone know a possible cause? I know the Polo GTi's burned oil due to piston ring issues but I didn't think this affected the 120bhp versions of the 1.4 TSi.

For me the biggest issue is the oil consumption not the other 2 codes.....She's going to book it in to have a full inspection, but I thought getting some wisdom from PH was sensible first smile

Our Golf 1.4tsi (2011, 120bhp) uses oil. Doesn't leak, regular annual servicing.
I always end up topping it up before the next filter change/service.
I assume TADTS

For the turbo boost pressure, I’d be tempted to change the diverter/recirc valve first, for the sake of £40 or so. There’s a couple of revisions but you want the latest one with the blue seal.

As for the oil, unfortunately many VAG petrol engines from that era suffered from high consumption. The 1.4 doesn’t have a PCV afaik and if there’s no leaks then could be the piston rings or the way the engine was initially run in. Only option there is to keep topping it up or move the car on.

Thank you both, much appreciated. She's booked the car in for a proper inspection so hopefully we'll get some answers then.
