Audi A1 Steering wheel controls not working - any ideas?
Discussion
Hi all,
My wife has a 2016 Audi A1 Sport TDI and the steering wheel controls have recently stopped working for no apparent reason - all of the controls and lights, including the horn no longer work. There is also an amber airbag light on the dash, so I also assume that the airbag is no longer functioning.
It looks like there's no power going to the steering wheel. I've checked the fuses and all seem ok, and I've removed the column trim/surround and everything looks connected and intact.
Any ideas where to look next?

It'll be the clock spring behind the steering wheel. My wife has a 2016 Audi A1 Sport TDI and the steering wheel controls have recently stopped working for no apparent reason - all of the controls and lights, including the horn no longer work. My neighbour has just had exactly the same issue.
Be aware, you may have to take the car to Audi main dealer to recode the controls back to the car after it's changed.

Thanks Mike, that sounds expensive if it's got to go to Audi.My neighbour has just had exactly the same issue.

I'll take a look and see if it's possible to DIY, I don't mind a bit of spannering.
From memory, parts were around £250 and about an hour and a half labour worked about £360 all in at our local independent garage.
As I say, it may need recoding and our experience was that it required main dealer software to do it - took all of 15 mins.
Hopefully it’s a simple part swap for you.
