2017 Skoda Octavia 2.0 TDi

Lifelong Skoda dealer looked after purchased at 52k miles which under approved used scheme required the 60k big service to be done so cambelt etc.

Done around 2k miles in car had a total electrical meltdown yesterday looking like the alternator was toast. I got recovered and had a look around the car with the AA man (via Skoda Assist) now where the alternator ans auxiliary pulleys are the whole cambelt side of the engine, the belts, chassis rail and engine mount was covered in oil. The AA man recons the root cause is that oil has got in the alternator.

Not familiar with these engines but anything that could be done by changing the cambelt that could cause such an issue.

The Skoda garage I’m using cannot look at the car till next week.
