Skoda Octavia (2010) service questions
Discussion
Hello Experts,
Excuse my post as this is only my 2nd .
I own a Skoda Octavia (2010) automatic petrol and just got it serviced by Skoda (direct retailer). Yes, went to direct Skoda as the price difference isn't much between a normal garage and Skoda.
They flagged a few items that require attention and I'm totally unsure which are concerning and related to MOT considering the age of the vehicle.
I truly appreciate any advice and some of my questions may be silly due to a lack of knowledge of cars. Yes, googled for some answers and would like to clarify my assumptions as the answers from google are too generic.
1, The front suspension (passenger side) is making a rumbling noise - I wonder if the suspension and shock absorbers/bush are the same? Are these referring to one thing as in common?
2, All bushings showing signs of cracking and perishing lots of corrosion also present. Again, not sure if bushings are related to the above suspension thing.
3, Rear bump stops perished badly NSR completely failed replacement required. Upon googling, I've noticed this is not an MOT failure and shall wait for the experts to answer.
4, Oil leak around charge pipe where it connects to intercooler on NSF - first step is to replace seals.
I truly appreciate any advice on what to fix or estimated costs where needed.
Regards
B

Did they give you any explanation of the cause of 1?
We are about to dispose of an Octavia that's similar vintage and have over the last few years replaced each drop link at least once - combination of my wife's wonderful mechanical sympathy and VW quality....... Sounds exactly like you describe.

No idea, they want more money to inspect those items on an individual basis. Cannae be bothered and going to a private garage now which I should've done earlier. We are about to dispose of an Octavia that's similar vintage and have over the last few years replaced each drop link at least once - combination of my wife's wonderful mechanical sympathy and VW quality.......
