Ok, my turn now with the B8 Passat not missus rattling old golf.

Mines just had the cam done for the first time and not sure if I didn't notice before but there is a belt I can hear rattling more so when its cold.

I rang garage who did the cam and he said could be the auxiliary belt.

Any conincidence here when they changed the cambelt/waterpump it could be linked?

Is this an easy enough job to change the aux belt yourself?

any reason why a new aux belt wasnt done with the cambelt? its only a few quid and you have to remove the belt and pulley anyway so it makes sense to put a new one back on?

There have been a few reports recently about serious faults with a brand of cambelt/pulley kits.

Collapsing rollers/tensioners mainly.

Not sure about naming and shaming but it rhymes with Draco

TBH I thought this....im in the world of independents now so in some respects a dealership would probably had done this and charged me through the nose.

How much effort is involved to change the belt yourself?
