Bloody Keyless Start
Discussion
Out in the middle of nowhere today and the battery in my key fob decided to die and render my car useless Obviously annoyed as it’s the first time it’s ever happened to me and if I’d had any idea it was an issue I’d have carried a spare watch battery in the glove box. More importantly though is after ringing Skoda and explaining to the service department my predicament the lady on the other end informed me there was nothing they could do, other than send out an engineer, who would then have to run a diagnostic check on my car before proceeding Still struggling to get my head around the fact a £1 battery can totally incapacitate a car. Sorry for the rant, but feel better now
I wish… unfortunately none of above worked, i.e. no warnings and tried pushing the key onto button to start (as per manual). All I got was “key not detected” as it was completely dead (car stood for 3 hours after driving there with no issues) Reading further into manual the next step is to ring dealership, again a waste of time.
Anyway, sorted by the wife driving out to me and now carrying a couple of spare batteries in the glove box.
