Audi to manufacture quattro concept
Allroad 4WD features soft-roading capabilities
Audi has announced that it's to build the production version of the allroad quattro concept that was presented back at the start of the year at the Detroit Auto Show. It's the second generation of the model and is due to be launched in mid-2006.
Audi has already built 90,000 allroad quattros line since the beginning of 2000, more than originally planned. The car features quattro permanent four-wheel drive as standard and air suspension with variable ground clearance.
We don't have any hard and fast details yet, but the current top-end model runs a 4.2-litre V8 mated to a five-speed Tiptronic gearbox, makes 300bhp at 6,200rpm with a torque figure of 280lb-ft at 2,700rpm, and has a top speed of 148mph. The price of the current version is £41,660.
