s5 timing belt change
Discussion
hi, I have a 2013 Audi s5 72k on the clock and its just been in for a clutch/gearbox repair. I have been advised that the timing belt is in need for a change as its squealing a fair bit and he has quoted me nearly £1500 which seems very excessive! What should I look at in terms of costs?! Im actually dubious about driving the car now..should I be worried or continue driving as normal for now
Ta!
Ta!
Timing chain is at the back of the engine and I think it's an engine out job. £1500 would actually be cheap! assuming it's needed, which is not likely.
There's an ux belt and I think a separate supercharger belt at the front, and neither (or even both) should cost £1500!
Especially if done at an indy.

At that mileage it'll want an alternator belt, and you may as well do supercharger belt whilst you're there.
About an hour for both and probably under 50 quid parts even using genuine Audi.
It is indeed a timing chain that should last the life of the car. The timing chain would be physically incapable of squealing

Sorry to sound totally inept, so the car has a timing chain and not a belt. At the front of the engine I can see a belt, assuming this is an alternator belt or supercharger belt? At both of these located at the front on the engine. I'm assuming its only these two which will need replacing?About an hour for both and probably under 50 quid parts even using genuine Audi.
