Anyone able to offer some advise for me / local spanner man.

My a6 has 360 camera set up and the wing mirror camera started to be intermittent fault in the cold weather in Spring.
Often a restart would clear it.
Audi at the time were useless in diagnosing / fixing.

One way or another it has been 100% for the last 6months I'd imagine, however it has instead moved (or coincidentally) moved the fault to the front camera.
This fault is consistent and I can't clear but the restart etc.

The garage has diagnosed it as Fault code B128412. comms to camera I think he said?
We have disconnected, cleared and reconnected the camera at the front behind the grill, but thats not done it.

Is the module under the drivers seat? Is it a seat out job?

Any other advice? The Google-fu is poor or the 360 camera is a rare option to bring this up often.

That needs a proper diagnostic; you could be looking at a canbus, coding, wiring, or component issue.

Thanks Dr - and thats a bummer.
You are the most helpful Audi-esque type I have met, despite trying three garages.
The car has(d) full warranty and they were saying that they would need to strip the mirror and camera. If a cable problem, they claimed the warranty would not cover it. And similarly any costs with associated exploration would not be covered.

AKA, not very helpful or forward going to resolve despite the full warranty. Obviously they need one visit to see there is a problem. another visit to diagnose it. and a third or more to fix it.
Nonsense behaviour

Would the intermittency of the Wing mirror suggest any particular likely problem?

I have seen door mirror indicator faults on C7 A6s caused by the wiring within the mirror stalk breaking.

Intermittent faults are never easy to diagnose, and this is one of those where all following Guided Fault FInding will likely do is end up telling you to replace one component after another.

Where in the country are you?

Thanks - fault find as said is a bummer for sure.
Also I am thinking that the dealers I have spoke too would just carte blanche start replacing stuff - after long lead times- and rack up a bill because it’s easier.

Interestingly I tried the self park and it happily parallel revers parked tonight. I would have thought it was say no chance

I am at the top of North Yorkshire, Teesside.
Nearest dealer is Stockton on tees.

Bump

Out of the blue this morning the same NS wingmirror camera or display of it, had a hissy:

Turned the car off and on again and hey presto - cleared:

Does this help diagnose the problem ??

Not really, as there's still a lot of "potential" problems. Wiring, CAN signals, control module, water ingress...

If you were closer I'd say book it in as we've a technician very good with this sort of fault finding. Any problem that isn't routinely demonstrable can remain tricky to find...

Really don't know anyone in your neck of the woods I could direct you towards.

I have the same problem, started intermittent a few months back, now the front camera is constantly blue screen.

I have checked the camera connection in the grill, next is to check the module under the carpet in front of the drivers seat, I'm hopeful its a loose connection, if not it looks like a faulty module. Just need some spare time and good weather to have a look.(You don't need to take the seat out, just the bottom door trim to access under the carpet.)

Almost relieved it is not just me then ! Do you have / seen any other cameras playing up too?
We've checked the front camera and cleansed out etc too.

DrG - I assume the module is unobtanium and needs WOPA to programme is - and not a driveways job.

That'll be an ODIS job (component protection too).

Sorry, ODIS is Audi's workshop diagnostic software.

All main dealers and a few good independents.

Bump - and in case anyone ever searches for the code etc.

Finally Audi fitted the car in for a check over - and having pulled all the cables, and the seat out to access the control modules, they have decided both the front camera (permanent blue fault screen) and the wing mirror camera (intermittent blue fault screen) are knackered and will be ordering in to replace.

Apparently its not a straight forward plug and play - they need to borrow from another branch / garage some black and white boards that get strategically placed around the car to 'tune' the camera system.

Progress : Ongoing.

Probably means they've never done a calibration before for the camera system - it's common to anything with adaptive cruise control as well (so bumper off usually means it needs doing) - slightly surprising they've not got them, as a main dealer.

Fingers crossed they resolve it for you smile

bump.

These boards. Are made of a cross between rocking horse st and hens teeth.
Apparently model specific and being an A6 Allrwoad, no one has them. Lookers group dont have them anywhere.
Audi are on back order to source / sell.
There is a 'borrow a tool' facility that has my Dealer waiting to access.
Barking if you ask me.

Apparently the suspension height makes a difference?
