Hi All.

My mum has recently got a new Ibiza with the 1.0 Tai petrol engine (manual).

It's horrible to drive at low speeds, in traffic for example, hesitant and rough, does anyone else have any experience of this. I know there was an issue with the 1.5TSi but I can't find much on the 1.0L.

Any information greatly received, the dealer has had the car and say it drives live ever other one.

Thanks

Paul

Daughter has that engine, think it's 110PS. in an Ateca. I did a decent journey in it a few weeks ago which involved queuing for lights and roundabout and it didn't give me any concern. I'd say it drives well, almost amazing for what it is.

We did have an Ibiza years ago with one of the older 3cyl engines and that always felt like it had an engine mount missing.

Have the exact same engine in a heavier car, Toledo. Sometimes short of power if the turbo hasn't spooled up yet but generally no issues with it, certainly not the way you're describing it!

I recently test drove a 2019 Skoda Fabia with the 110hp version of that engine with a 6-speed manual gearbox. Drove fine with no hesitation, smooth & reasonable performance for its power in a 1100kg car. Averaged over 50mpg on the 20 mile mixed road (motorway, single-carriageway, town) test drive.

I have a 1.2 TSI 110hp 4-cylinder in a March 2017 Fabia DSG, which was replaced months afterwards by the 1.0 3-cylinder.

General forum consensus is that the 1.2 is the nicer engine if you can find it - much for the reasons that the OP outlined. I didn't find this out until after I'd gotten the car!
