2.7s are very thirsty, for not a lot of result. Handling can be a bit wobbly at times though. We had two 2.5 tdis at work (rural security) when i was at uni. The only advantage they have over a regular a6 is the ground clearance, which only comes into play if you make a habit of howling down bumpy lanes flat out or chasing stuff across fields. My old 2.8 would easily out-do them in just about every respect except off road ability.

But the book figures for 2.7 put them on a par with our S4s
And they can be chipped. Crap handling would be a worry though. I do genuinely need a bit of off-road ability.
Also I think they look quite cool...
I do need to replace my old bruiser though...
I was looking at one of these as a possibility earlier in the year (but for various reasons unrelated reasons have stuck with the dullmobile).
Having weighed up the pro's and con's I was looking for a 180 Tdi, not particularly quick but less painfull than the 163. One thing to bare (sp) in mind is the torque with the diesels, which I think suits the allroad.
Course the other thing is.. allroads hold their price pretty well... there is a 2001 S6 avant on the Autotrader website for not much more than the going rate of a low mileage allroad.
.... now thats tempting
Cheers Dan
