The problem was most of the time travel assist would be on. Even if really you just wanted to use acc on its own. The problem with travel assist is it reads speed limit signs and brakes etc for them. So say you want to set it at 65mph on a single carriageway that Derbyshire has now decided should be 40 in the fake guise of safety, when you go past the sign your vw will brake down to that speed limit
Trying to get acc operational on its own was nigh on impossible and very confusing system. Apparently it’s all experimental at the mo to make it harder in the future to have sole human control! Computer knows best

Ah sorry don’t want to put you off by being negative. I only had it for a long weekend so to be fair didn’t have much time to investigate (driving family round etc).
So main thing would be to try and find out how to switch off travel assist even when you still want to use acc. Once you figure it out it will be ok.
Travel assist was ok on dual carriageways etc it seemed to be single carriageways that was more problematic.

I actually ordered TA as a £50.00 extra so hopefully I will be wanting to switch it on at least at some times! But at the same time I do want control over it. My current Arteon has the predictive feature attached to ACC which reacts to bends, speed limits etc and slows the car but its too reactive and I keep that turned off. The lane assist function actually works pretty well on motorways and I do tend to use that but it can be easily switched on or off on the Arteon.
