I've got an A3 3.2 Quattro DSG, bought new in March 2004, it is a great box, working as auto or manual the best of both worlds - even better as it doesn't lose power/economy through torque converter, gearshifts are super quick, there is a 'launch control' for quick starts and you get throttle blip on downshifts in manual or sport. Only downside of the gearbox is when trying to manouver close to something the clutch release is a bit grabby and it is difficult to just creep forward slowly like with a normal auto - when you press the brake the clutch disengages and when you release it then the car lurches forward faster than is comfortable if, for example, close to a wall but you can overcome this by using the handbrake! also I had one occasion where it didn't behave after startup, for some reason it wouldn't shift properly and I ended up stranded in neutral, I switched off and restarted and has been fine since, Audi dealer found nothing wrong with it!
I have had a few other (non-gearbox) electrical 'gremlins' always after startup but they always seem to go away if restarted.
Overall it has been good, car is great fun to drive, quick, good handling and is a real 'wolf in sheeps clothing' but it chewed up the inside edge of the front tyres quickly 'they all do that sir' was Audi's response.
