Yes, finally something decent. £4k of Audi 100 S4.

Somewhere in excess of 230bhp (it's modded apparently, but exactly how remains a mystery), and despite it's weight is surprisingly quick. Sounds wonderful too (which is the whole reason i bought one).
It's on 157k miles, so an impending cambelt change looms. Apart from that it's in very nice condition for such an old car, paint's showing the scars of a lifetime of carwashes, but nothing a quick polish won't sort in the short term, and a bit of spraying in the long term.
Koni sport shocks and Eibach springs mean its fairly nimble (slides rather well <ahem>) but the ride quality leaves a little to be desired.

16mpg has meant i've run out of petrol, and money, after only a week. Doh.

Anyone want to buy a 100 2.8? (cough|http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/42095.htm)

Congratulations on your new purchase! Not bad looking considering its years. Thirsty devil though! Have fun!

Look after the engine and it ought to give you at least another fifty thou miles without trouble.

I'd be dissapointed if it didn't do another 150k personally.

Nice one. I guess it has the six-speed box?

16mpg's a bit on the scary side though - especially if it needs Optimax as part of its calorie-controlled diet...

Nah - Alex's car is playing up. These things average the low twenties and 28 mpg on a run. They go like stink though.

I have the same engine in my S2.

What a noise, and when de catted it pops and rumbles on overrun...

Get yourself over to www.s2forum.com if you want the right advice about, tuning and maintaining the beast.

Cheers,

Steve

Nice car

Can someone please enlighten me as to the differences between the S4 and S6 of this period

Both look the same, visually at least

Thanks

Shirish

The S6 replaced the S4 when the 100 was rebadged as the A6.

The differences are:

Different bumpers and door trims.
Different grille and headlights (S6 is more V shaped grille)
different rear lights
S6 has airbags, S4 has procon 10
S4 has locking rear diff, S6 has traction control instead
S6 has RF locking remote, S4 has infrared
S6 has digital odometer, S4 has mechanical
Early S4s have Internal caliper front brakes, late S4s and S6 have regular disks
S6 has 17" wheels, S4 has 16s

Think that's everything.
