Cupra Formentor VZ2
Discussion
After selling my Tesla Model 3 when lockdown started back in March 2020 I decided now was the time to pick up something.
Must admit I wasnt sure on the looks but in the flesh I really like it. I wanted something a little higher than a car but not a full on SUV (bad back and leg mean ingress and egress is much better when the car is just ever so slightly higher).
i've covered 80 miles since Friday, currently averaging 17.2 mpg

I'm sure about looks, but not sure about tech gadgets/assitants and lack of buttons. I will learn soon if I like it or hate it. If I hate it, it will be relegated to workhorse function.
The software is a gripe of mine already but the lack of buttons im used to having had a model 3.The software in the tesla was second to none, this on the other hand is laggy, too sensitive and full of bugs BUT I can work around it quite easily.
I prepared check list for collection, it includes making sure all updates applied, equipment, cupra id, etc.
I wonder if there's a way to switch off most of the information pop up that show up in the middle of the dash. If you choose dash with speed in the middle, these notes are obscuring it. Issue that did not exist in analogue dashboard.

I think you can yes, you can change pretty much everything, including having the screen just black around the central speed dial, as well as having the centre of the centre speed dial black too.I wonder if there's a way to switch off most of the information pop up that show up in the middle of the dash. Seen it! All reviews seem to be good.
Not sure I can bring myself to buy a car without driving one first, or is that just me?
Neither could I, but I saw some good reviews, figured it would be just a taller golf R, and in some ways it is, other ways it's nicer IMO, I really like the look inside and out, easier to get in and out of as a little higher. COVID made it difficult to get a drive. Not sure I can bring myself to buy a car without driving one first, or is that just me?
It feels quick for what it is, comfy when I need and happy on a B road blast.
It puts a smile on my face and that's all that counts. It gets A LOT of attention, interestingly more than my Tesla model 3 did when I got it in 2019.
It's cheap to lease for what it is I think.

How are you finding the Formentor?
Seriously considering chopping in the M135 for one of these as after something 4WD and a bit more room in the back for the wife's bike.
Can't get one for a test drive until 12th April though!
It's good overall. The infotainment is full of bugs (28 and counting) but getting better with each software update.Seriously considering chopping in the M135 for one of these as after something 4WD and a bit more room in the back for the wife's bike.

It's my first 4WD, doesnt disappoint when using launch control.
The fake 5 cylinder noise from the soundaktor is great for 30 seconds. Not may pops and bangs, gladly.
I ordered Formentor back in November, based on reviews. No demo cars were available yet. Went for a test drive in December, when it was possible. Nothing discouraged me, so kept my order. Collected it yesterday.
Regarding deals, unfortunately nothing special, just average:
https://www.whatcar.com/car-leasing/deals/#price_t... - you can check different terms and models here
https://www.nationwidevehiclecontracts.co.uk/car-l... some deals here as well.
I would avoid old stock cars, as they have initial version of Infotainment which is full of bugs. Cars produced this year have newer version of hardware and software.

Interested to hear how you all get on with these over the coming months.
They'd not even been on my radar until I saw the one pictured in the lease deals thread. Quite like the look of them and if they're easy to live with I could see myself in one when my current car goes back (company car and very likely taking the cash option in November).

I only did 500 miles in mine and still working out the systems. So far, nothing annoyed me or made me regret leasing it. However, sometimes I think, I should have gone for something totaly boring and slower as daily, for half the cost, because Formentor will never be sporty enough for me. It does not provide excitement I get from driving the Abarth. Formentor has much more power, but I don't feel it and it does nothing for me.
Of course, if you're looking for daily, it will be perfect car. But again, think if you need 310ps one or just 1.5l 150ps.
I should add, that I paid similar money to lease Audi S8 and A8 previously, so Formentor is rather expensive comparing to them.
